Meet Our NYSW Interns
Since one of the objectives of National Youth Service Week is to empower youth, we are very pleased to introduce the 9 interns who have been working with Dr. Patricia Nabti, the Executive Director of Volunteer for Lebanon, and Sanaa Hassan, our VFL Vice President and master trainer to organize National Youth Service Week 2019. [Two of them, Kamar and Maha, had to leave the internship program at the end of summer because of other commitments.] They interns range in age from 16 to 26, and from high school through graduate study. While most of them are based in Beirut, there are interns from Aley, Baabda, Bint Jbeil, and Chouf, and others who have connections to cities, towns, and villages throughout Lebanon.
They are revising our NYSW Participation Guide and Training Power Point. They have finalized a slogan, are working on improving our website, and will engage in efforts to promote National Youth Service Week through their own networks by personal contact, traditional media, and social media. They will serve as trainers to help more groups plan and implement projects - and have those projects have more impact and be more sustainable. They will be some of the monitors who visit the projects, will join us in evaluating projects, and will participate in organizing the final recognition event in May. Since we want to reach out to youth ages 5-25 to participation in National Youth Service Week, it is important to have youth input in every aspect of our campaign. We are pleased to present our interns here.
